to wine and dine...

Goa, simply put, is a very lively place - Its sandy sea shores, coconut palms, the free flowing beverage and the happy-go lucky-attitude of the local people, makes Goa the tourist hub of India. A place quite distinct from the other Indian states.
This tiny state - a Portuguese colony until 1960, became a popular destination for hippies in the 1970s because of the warm, liberal and easy-going outlook of the wonderful local populace. However, its cultural vigour, combined with Konkani (the local dialect) aspirations makes it a place where both the Orient and the Occidental meet in perfect harmony
.

Not many know that Goa is also an excellent place for eco-tourism. Though a small state, when compared to its neighbours, it has legally protected most of its forest zones. The many swift flowing rivers like Mandovi and Zuari, the two main river systems originate along the hill valleys formed by the Western Ghats.
River cruises along the estuarial stretches of river Mandovi offers deck-top dinner with live bands regaling the audience with traditional folk dance & music, which adds to the pleasure and 'spirit' of your gastronic enjoyment. The Goan cuisines, especially the sea food
are a gourmet's delight. No wonder, its a place for swings and swims, a place to wine and dine.

North Goa : A more happening place than the traditional south, the beaches in North Goa is where most of the foreign tourist particularly the back-packers head for. The locals here are very easy going and laid back than the relatively conservative southerners. Historical forts, neat small coves with cliff shores, along with a popular flea market - a place for endless bargaining.... is what North Goa offers to a tourist.
The rocky cliffs at Anjuna, the forts and battlements lined along the beautiful coastline and its flea market are the places to see. The nightlife here is quite interesting especially during the New year's eve and week-end, and also at the carnival time. A place for lots of fun and sun!!

South Goa: Long white sandy beach shores, five star hotels and luxury resorts, old churches and temples is what South Goa specializes at. It also offers a good opportunity for the intrepid adventure seeker. You can visit the Mollem National Park, admeasuring 240 sq. kms of thick forest clad evergreen slopes of Western ghats. A trip to the famous Dudhsagar waterfall, near Collem, is worth a visit for the subservient fall-bathers.
South Goa is also famous for its temple festivals, and the much awaited Carnival fest, on the eve of the Lent period. The colourful parades, bands and floats depicting various contemporary themes, showcased through the streets, just like the Rio Carnival - a legacy of the portuguese colonisors.
